Route change via Belly Busters

5 01 2010

This years #09 Shields Road route change to ‘The Old Toll Bar’ was a marvellous plan.  Not only was the bar a very pleasant Olde World Inn hostelry, it turns out that the aromatic route proved irresistable.

Looks like the walk is destined to be punctuated by a life saving gut busting curry hoose calorific top up.

Never heard Homer of the north ever say ‘eatin’s’cheatin!’

Yum-yum

….. Kabana time

Another year, another tubey. The years have fair rolled by when Hampden brings his eldest son along for his initiation into this Glasgow institution – rights of passage stuff. Good head count of 15, with some more new blood on the tracks.

Drinking from the ashtrays in Mackintosh’s is a lost art these days – curse that smoking ban – so flaming Drambuie’s had to suffice, and narrowly avoided the dram hughies – must cut down on old John Barleycorn next year, but nothing a fish supper and curry sauce couldn’t mend.

A flying visit from Jeg, and a partial completion from Ally – he intends to beat the Kelvinbridge travelator record next year, sabre-toothed steps permitting.

The Laurieston is still the pub of the round – same bar, same barman, same quality pint of McEwans Export after 25 years.

Old Toll a worthy sub for the Honours Three, and Kabana was a welcome surprise for the nosebag (then she lost her mind, at the Copa…etc) and all for under a pound you know (give or take).
